People often ask me if I prefer one of my teaching venues over another, but how could I choose?

I love teaching preschool because I love their innocence and honesty. You will hear the most genuine things come out of a child's mouth.  One of my favorites was when we had done a running activity.  When one of my four-year-olds got back slower than her classmates she said, "I'm not as fast as I used to be."  Already past her prime she's already slowing down. I love them because They are sponges. They remember everything and love learning.  They are excited about homework.  Even on days when I don't feel well, my preschool students make me smile.

I love teaching adults because they all have such great reasons for coming back to school.  Whatever the reason, they recognize and embrace their education. They make time from their busy schedules to learn and progress.  My adult students have goals and they work towards them.  They ask for extra work.  They take a packet home to practice again.  They understand that effort leads to progress and they make that effort.

I have been tutoring math since I was in high school.  These student usually come to me because the word "math" leaves a bad taste in their math.  As we spend time together, and things start to make sense, they hate it less and some come to love it.  Then they get an A on their test and I get the text.  They are seeing the joy from the experience and they think to share it with me.  How could I not love that?

No matter the class, topic, or student's age I am just grateful to be there for the "a-ha" moment.
